Wet & Wild - Whitewater of the Sea Welcome to our playground! Experience a 3 hour playful exploration of the Mendocino Coast, enjoying areas only accessible by kayak. We show you all the tricks you need to kayak and play in our coast's rocky features. Dart into sea caves, glide down waves, and experience the incredible beauty of the wild Mendocino Coast. Sunday Mendocino Sea Kayak Tours
From April through October, paddlers can join us on our Sunday Paddles. Our Sunday Paddles are $40/person ($60/person if you need to use one of our kayaks). Our Sunday Paddles range from mild to wild and for beginner through advanced so paddlers can select the paddle that suits their skill level and interests.

First Sunday Estuary Kayak Tour
Enjoy the peaceful beauty of one of
Mendocino's Coastal estuaries.
First Sunday's April through October, we will guide a paddle on one of our tidal estuaries.
Paddlers may bring their own sea kayak, recreational kayak, or canoe (or rent one from us for $20) and join us for wildlife watching and natural history interpretation. Paddling tips specific to estuaries and wildlife watching will be shared as we paddle.
Previous paddling experience is required as this is not a learn to paddle tour. Paddlers should have the equivalent of BCU 1 Star Skills and be comfortable paddling their craft for 3-4 hours.

Second Sunday Coastal Exploration Tour
Sea Kayak and Explore the Mendocino Coast
Second Sunday's April through October, you can join Liquid Fusion Kayaking on a sea kayak journey along the Mendocino Coast.
This paddle is perfect for those who have had some sea kayak experience and are looking to sea kayak and experience the rugged beauty of Mendocino's coastline. Conditions permitting, we will paddle into sea caves, rock gardens, and secluded coves. We will also paddle off shore and see the beauty of our coastal headlands from the ocean. Tips for wildlife watching and coastal paddling will be shared as we paddle.
Paddlers are expected to have a minimum of 10 hours experience paddling a decked sea kayak, the equivalent of BCU 2 Star Skills, and be comfortable paddling 4-6 miles over 3-4 hours.
Paddlers may use their own sea kayak or rent one from us. Sea kayaks must be sea worthy with adequate flotation and properly fitting spray decks. Immersion wear (wetsuit/drysuit) is required for 50 degree water. Please contact us with any equipment questions.

Third Sunday Sea Kayak Rock Garden Tour

Third Sunday's April through September, play with Liquid Fusion Kayaking in their paddling playground on the Mendocino Coast.
This paddle is for seasoned sea kayakers who have solid rough water paddling skills and want to paddle and play in the surf zones and rock gardens of the Mendocino Coast. We will be guiding paddlers to play spots and sharing tips for surfing waves, reading the water, running pour-overs, and paddling technical water
Paddlers should have a reliable roll, be able to average a 3 knot pace, be comfortable launching and landing in 3-5 foot surf, and have the equivalent of BCU 3 Star Sea Skills.
Third Sunday Paddles are 4-5 hours and $40/person ($60/person if renting a kayak).

Tour de Mendo
Explore the sea caves, arches, rock formations, and secluded coves of the Mendocino Coast with LFK’s experienced guides. Be enthralled by the wildness of the Pacific Ocean as we navigate the swells and rock gardens of the Mendocino Coast.

What: Sea kayak coastal exploration tour guided by Liquid Fusion Kayaking. Day one is instructional and then each day we will paddle approximately 4-6 nautical miles with exploration and rock gardening along the way.
We are also likely to spend some time playing in whitewater kayaks in the rock gardens. If there is interest and water, we will add an additional day running a whitewater river.

Whitewater of the Sea - Rock Gardening
Welcome to our playground! Experience a 3 hour playful exploration of the rock gardens of the Mendocino Coast. We'll show you some of our favorite spots and teach you the tricks of rock gardening - dart into sea caves, glide down waves, charge pour-overs, and carve through surge chanels - all the while marveling at the incredible beauty of the wild Mendocino Coast.

Why: This is a challenging, thrilling, and fun way to explore our rocky coastline in a sea or whitewater kayak.
Who: Beginner through advanced Whitewater River Kayakers or Sea Kayakers who want to explore the rock gardens and whitewater features of the ocean.
Prerequisites: Essential kayaking skills and essential safety and rescue, and experience paddling in rough water (sea, river, or surf) or equivalent skills as determined by LFK. A reliable eskimo roll is required to paddle a decked kayak.

What: 3 hour session with 1 hour of instruction and 2 hours of play w/guided instruction (we also offer full day classes in sea kayak rock gardening)
Paddlers will learn and apply concepts and skills involved in:
Kayak control and maneuvering
Reading moving water
Recognizing hazards
Recovery Techniques
Exploring coastal rock formations including surge channels and pour-overs and sea caves
Enthusiast (Level 2): Proficient maneuvering and bracing skills in moving water are necessary for this level. Self-rescue on the sit-on-top or reliable eskimo roll in a whitewater kayak or sea kayak is required.
Performance (Level 3): Experienced paddlers will challenge their water reading and maneuvering skills at this level. A reliable eskimo roll is required for all types of kayaks at this level.

Experience 3 days of playful exploration on the Mendocino Coast enjoying areas only accessible by kayak. We will guide you to some of our favorite spots and show you the tricks you need to kayak and play in our coast's rocky features. Dart into sea caves, glide down waves, and experience the incredible beauty of the wild Mendocino Coast.
Enjoy 3 nights of camping and meals provided by LFK. Mornings you will awake to the sounds of birds and the smell of Thanksgiving Coffee brewing followed by breakfast and the paddling plans for the day. In the evening, shower and relax as LFK prepares a hearty dinner followed by an evening around the campfire sharing tales and adventures.
Novice through Advanced paddlers will enjoy this trip. We specialize in providing challenges for all levels. Previous kayaking instruction/experience is necessary - i.e. taking our whitewater of the sea tour, surf or whitewater kayaking experience.
We will be using performance whitewater kayaks for this trip. You may bring your own kayak or use one of ours (sit on top or decked kayaks depending upon paddler's experience).

Osprey - An osprey diving for a fish right in front of our kayaks is one of our favorite wildlife sitings on the Noyo River.

Harlequin Duck - We have one of these hanging around on the Noyo River. This is not a typcal habitat for Harlequin Ducks, but he has migrated here for the past 2 winters. He is likely to migrate north any day now but is still around and appears to be enjoying warm sunny days on the Noyo River.

Marine Mammals -
Harbor Seal - Often harbor seals follow us around in our kayaks in both the Noyo River and in the ocean.
California Sea Lion - Arrrr, arrr, arrr, arrr. You may hear them before you see them. We commonly see them in the Noyo Harbor, in Noyo Bay, and hanging out on the buoys.
Gray Whale - we see gray whales between December and June.

Kayaking for Parents
Kids love kayaking and we love sharing the outdoors via kayak with them. Kids really enjoy the special activities that we have for them. Each tour is customized to the kids' developmental levels and interests (Cate is a former classroom teacher whose classrom is now on the water).
We recommend our Sunset Bird Paddle or Noyo Meander for anyone ages 3 and up. We use stable and comfortable tandem sea kayaks for our tours that are great for kids and adults. We usually have 3 and 4 year old children sit in the lap of a parent in the front of one of our tandem sea kayaks (or in their own special seat between their parents). 5 years and up enjoy the front row seat of a tandem.
What about adventurous children? From mild to wild, we have options for everyone. Ages 9 and up will enjoy our cruising the wild -coastal exploration. And for those that like a lot of adventure, 12 years and up will be thrilled by our Wet & Wild - Kayaking ROCKS!!!
What about safety? All of our tours and classes are led by Jeff or Cate who are professional kayak instructors who specialize in teaching and certifying others in kayak safety. Also, they are both certified in first aid and cpr and are trained lifeguards.

Welcome to our playground!
Experience a 3 hour playful exploration of the Mendocino Coast, enjoying areas only accessible by kayak. We show you all the tricks you need to kayak and play in our coast's rocky features. Dart into sea caves, glide down waves, and marvel at the incredible beauty of the wild Mendocino Coast.
Why: This is a thrilling, challenging way to explore the ocean rock gardens of the Mendocino Coast. 
Who: Beginner through advanced kayakers who want to explore the rocks, sea caves, and whitewater features of the Mendocino Coast.
Prerequisites: This adventure requires good swimming skills and good physical fitness as this is a moderately strenuous activity with immersion in 52ish degree water (wearing a wetsuit). Previous kayaking experience is recommended but not necessary. Kids must be at least 12 years of age and strong swimmers.
What: 3 hour session with 1 hour of instruction and 2 hours of play w/guided instruction

A Wilderness Adventure - Mendocino County Style!
Tracks to Kayaks
A unique way to explore the Noyo River Valley. Ride the Skunk Train from Fort Bragg to Northspur. On the return from Northspur, disembark from the train to kayak 2.5 miles on the Noyo River Estuary back to Fort Bragg.
The DETAILS:
Participants must call The Skunk Train for reservations by 3pm the day prior to the trip. Space is limited so early registration is recommended.
The Skunk Train departs at 10am from the Depot in Fort Bragg. Participants enjoy a scenic trip into the redwoods with a lunch and turn around stop at Northspur. Participants can pack a picnic lunch or purchase one at Northspur.
On the return trip, the train stops before its last crossing of the Noyo River. Tracks to Kayaks participants are greeted there by their kayak guide (Cate or Jeff). A quick paddle lesson is then followed by a 2.5 mile leisurely paddle down the Noyo River to Dolphin Isle. While paddling, learn about the wildlife and ecology of the Noyo River watershed. The 2.5 miles takes approximately 1.5 hours and is then followed by a shuttle ride back to the train depot.
This is a dry and mild kayak tour in tandem kayaks. No experience is necessary. Children must be 8 years of age to participate. The cost of the trip is $119/person and $94/child (ages 8-12).

Enjoy a hands on lesson on the basics of mushroom identification followed by a mushroom hunting/wildlife watching meander on the Noyo River. Our warm, waterproof gear will keep you warm, and you will enjoy the ease and comfort of our touring sea kayaks allowing you to enjoy the quiet solitude of the Noyo River, colorful migratory ducks, mysterious Mendocino mushrooms, and fall scenery.
This is a 3 hour adventure. The first 30-45 minutes is a lesson at our shop on mushroom identification followed by a 1.5-2 hour paddle admiring wild mushrooms and wildlife. No experience is necessary and all kayak equipment is provided including waterproof splashwear. Reservations are required and tours run rain or shine.
