Liquid Fusion Kayaking Tour de Mendo

July 27-August 3, 2008

Liquid Fusion Kayak Company has relocated its home base from San Diego to the Mendocino Coast and become Liquid Fusion Kayaking (LFK).

In July 2008, LFK is offering its first annual Tour de Mendo. LFK will be guiding sea kayakers in and out of the sea caves, arches, rock channels, and secluded coves on a multi-day epic sea kayak adventure from the Noyo Harbor in Fort Bragg to Van Damne in Little River. Each day approximately 4-6 nautical miles will be covered with exploration and rock gardening along the way. A shuttle will be provided at the end of each day which will entail 5-6 hours of coastal paddling and rock gardening.

Join us for a day, several, or the whole week. Our schedule is below. We will be paddling south Monday through Wednesday and then rock gardening Thursday in the Little River area. Friday through Sunday, we will be retracing our route as we paddle north. We of course have no control over the weather and will paddle rain or shine but reserve the right to modify the course when necessitated by the conditions.

The cost is $125/person and includes a guided tour and return shuttle. Sign-up for 3 days and get the 4th day free. Space is limited to 8 paddlers so register early. Contact LFK to register –     LFK's registration and cancelation policies

Sunday July 27 – Cache Creek Whitewater Kayaking - Of course true to its multidisciplinary form, LFK will be kicking the week off with a day of paddling class II and III whitewater on Cache Creek (this time of year we have to venture out of Mendocino County for whitewater).

Monday July 28 – Noyo Harbor to Caspar – We will start in Fort Bragg’s commercial fishing harbor and then paddle south to the popular surf spot of Caspar Beach. The paddle will include a ½ mile of flat water river paddling then 6 nm of coastal paddling and exploration.

Tuesday July 29 – Caspar Beach to Russian Gulch – We will continue our tour south through rock gardens, sea caves, arches, coves, and the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse to Russian Gulch. This day will entail 4 nm of coastal paddling with lots of rock gardening and exploring.

Wednesday July 30 – Russian Gulch to Van Damne – Departing from Russian Gulch, expect to paddle beneath headlands on our paddling meander along the coast through and around the Mendocino Headlands. We will paddle 6 nm with maneuvering.

Thursday July 31 – Rock Gardening in Van Damne – Whitewater or sea kayaks are super fun in the surge channels and caves. Enjoy a day of paddling in a destination “play” spot.

Friday August 1 – Van Damne to Russian Gulch – We will be meandering through and under the headlands as we paddle north past the town of Mendocino. This day will include 6 nm of paddling with maneuvering.

Saturday August 2 – Russian Gulch to Caspar – Rock gardening and marveling at the spectacular beauty of the Mendocino Coast is the plan as we cover the 4 nm from Russian Gulch to Caspar with lots of rock gardening and exploration.

Sunday August 3 – Caspar to Noyo Harbor - Our final leg of the paddle begins on the sandy beach of Caspar Bay and travels 6 nm north to the Noyo Harbor. The paddle will include exploration of coves, rocks, and bays as well as Fort Bragg’s fishing harbor.
