Edged Turns
Once you have launched your kayak onto the water it is time to relax, enjoy the sights and get to where you want to go. The flat-water perfection lesson will help to improve and perfect your every day paddling skills.
If you are interested in venturing out to sea, surfing waves, viewing wildlife, running down white water rivers, or earning BCU Three Star Awards; then practice paddling perfection on flat water. Flat water perfection lessons are great for first timers and seasoned veterans of all kayak disciplines.
Skills covered span from the simplicity of posture and fit in your kayak to edged turns and advanced maneuvering skills.

Liquid Fusion Kayaking
Into the Sea
Welcome Into the Sea!
This four-hour lesson is to provide the individual paddler with knowledge and skills to become an asset to a paddling group. Each week will have a skill set of some sort but will vary on conditions and abilities of the entire group. Paddlers enrolled in this course are comfortable on flat water and becoming proficient with the performance of body boat blade. If you have ventured out onto the sea and are looking for a great place to practice your skills, look no further as Into the Sea will enhance any paddlers skill level.
- Week one: Towed rescues and other towing techniques, theory and practice different T-rescues and recoveries.
- Week two: Winter paddling, cold challenge prevention, injured paddler rescues, becoming an asset to a paddling group, and ranges to help you in every day paddling
- Week three: 6 nautical mile tour, with problems.
- Week four: Launching and Landings off different ocean locations, strokes at sea, and how the sea affects your kayak.
- Week five: Bracing and rolling at sea.
Each week we will meet at a designated venue depending upon conditions. $100/person/session or $400 for prepayment for all 5 weeks.
Gear list:
- Kayak with proper flotation
- PFD with at a minimum of a whistle, knife and power snack.
- Paddle, spare paddle if you have one.
- Spraydeck for closed decked kayaks and thigh braces for all sit on top kayaks.
- Clothing for continuous immersion in 50' F water.
- Water and a snack
- Spare clothing in a dry bag to include a warm hat, and warm tops and bottoms.
- Boots, shoes or something that will stay on your feet during a swim.
- Helmets that fit properly!
- Tow system (optional but should be on your gear list)
- VHF radio (optional but good to have per person)
- Any other items that you feel necessary to bring.

Yeah we found warm water on the Mendocino Coast!!! Come learn to roll, work on your roll with instruction, or practice rolling and then play games with us.
Where are we finding warm water on the Mendocino Coast? - The Fort Bragg Recreation Center Swimming Pool.
Our first sessions are on Mondays - 10/27, 11/3, and 11/10 from 7-9pm. Each session will include rolling time and then games.
Fees:
First-Timers - Never had roll instruction before - $150 - includes 1.5 hour 1st lesson and then 2 tune-ups.
Tune-ups - anyone who has had roll instruction and wants assistance with perfecting the roll - $40/session - includes 20 minute roll assistance/instruction and kayak games.
Proficient rollers who want to practice their roll in the pool and then play kayak games - $25/session.

Sea kayak rescue
Learning to paddle safely and efficiently will increase your confidence and paddling fun.
This Essential Kayaking Skills class focuses on the basics of an efficient stroke, effective maneuvering, and injury prevention and is offered from 9-12.
The Essential Rescue and Recovery focuses on the skills necessary to prevent capsizing and in the event of a capsize how to self-rescue and buddy rescue. Class will include how to use self-rescue tools like paddle floats and bilge pumps. Essential Rescue and Recovery will be held from 1-4pm. Eskimo Rolls will not be covered. (Private roll lessons are available by appointment).
No previous paddling experience is necessary for our essential classes. These essential classes are a great introduction to kayaking skills and are prerequisites for our upcoming classes - Into the Sea and Surf Kayaking.
Join us for one session or both. $75/person for one 3 hour session or $125 for two 3 hour sessions.
Wetsuits are required for the rescue and recovery class. (If you don't have a wetsuit, wetsuits can be rented from Fort Bragg Marine 964-3310).

"Noyo Harbor and River Tour"
The tour includes the dramatic mouth of Noyo Harbor, with its steep cliffs and craggy rock formations; plus the beautiful Noyo River, known for its rich history and quiet beauty. Paddlers will glide across the gentle waters of Noyo Harbor and take in views of working fishing boats while watching for the abundant wildlife. Often seen are seals, sea lions, kingfishers, herons, cormorants, surf scooters, and osprey. The tour includes plenty of time to explore Noyo’s fabled boat graveyard and photograph the inspiring seascapes.
No previous kayaking experience is required for this guided tour and Liquid Fusion Kayak provides all the equipment needed, including tandem sea kayaks, paddles, life jackets and splash gear.

Learning to paddle safely and efficiently will increase your confidence and paddling fun.
Want to learn to kayak? This is the class to take to get you on your way to more paddling fun in any kayak - sit-on-top, sea, whitewater, or surf kayaks.
No previous paddling experience is necessary for our essential classes. This essentials class is a great introduction to kayaking skills and is a prerequisite for our other events - Into the Sea, Surf Kayaking, and Coastal Exploration (in a single kayak).
This Essential Kayaking Skills class focuses on the basics - posture and position in the kayak, balance, paddle grip, and the basics of an efficient stroke and effective maneuvering.
If you are paddling a sit-on-top kayak, we will teach basic recovery and self-rescue for sit-on-tops in this class. For deck boaters, we recommend that you take our Essential Rescue and Recovery Class.
$75/person for one 3 hour session (or $125 for Essential Skills and Essential Rescue and Recovery)

Wet-exit, self-rescue, and buddy rescue skills are imperative for safely paddling sea kayaks. Come out with us and let's have fun tipping boats over. The more the merrier so bring a friend or two.
Eskimo rolling is not covered in this class. Check out our calendar for one of our swimming pool sessions for rolling or schedule a private roll lesson or tune-up.

Into the Sea
Welcome Into the Sea!
This four-hour lesson is to provide the individual paddler with knowledge and skills to become an asset to a paddling group. Each week will have a skill set focus and will vary on conditions and abilities of the entire group. Paddlers enrolled in this course are comfortable on flat water and are becoming proficient with the performance of body boat blade in moving water. If you have ventured out onto the sea and are looking for a great place to practice your skills, look no further as Into the Sea will enhance any paddler's skill level.
- Week one: Towed rescues and other towing techniques, theory and practice of different T-rescues and recoveries.
- Week two: Winter paddling, cold challenge prevention, injured paddler rescues, becoming an asset to a paddling group, and ranges to help you in every day paddling
- Week three: 6 nautical miles tour, practicing what to do with problems.
- Week four: Launching and Landings off different ocean locations, strokes at sea, and how the sea affects your kayak.
- Week five: Bracing and rolling at sea.
Each week we will meet at a designated venue. This will be disclosed upon your registration into the lesson.
Gear list:
- Kayak with proper flotation
- PFD with at a minimum of a whistle, knife and power snack.
- Paddle, spare paddle if you have one.
- Spraydeck for closed decked kayaks and thigh braces for all sit on top kayaks.
- Clothing for continuous immersion in 50' F water.
- Water and a snack
- Spare clothing in a dry bag to include a warm hat and warm tops and bottoms.
- Boots, shoes or something that will stay on your feet during a swim.
- Helmets that fit properly!
- Tow system (optional but should be on your gear list)
- VHF radio (optional but good to have per person)
- Any other items that you feel necessary to bring.

Join us on our weekly fitness paddle. This is a great way to start the day and a good time to develop paddling fitness. We paddle for 1 to 1 1/2 hours to build strength, speed, and stamina.
These paddles are $10 if you provide your own kayak and gear; or $30 if you need to rent a kayak, paddle, and pdf. If you have not kayaked before, take one of our lessons before joining us. Preregister with us by 6pm the prior evening so that we can let you know our location for the week.

Edged TurnsOnce you have launched your kayak onto the water it is time to relax, enjoy the sights and get to where you want to go. The flat-water perfection lesson will help to improve and perfect your every day paddling skills.
If you are interested in venturing out to sea, surfing waves, viewing wildlife, running down white water rivers, or earning BCU Three Star Awards; then practice paddling perfection on flat water. Flat water perfection lessons are great for first timers and seasoned veterans of all kayak disciplines.
Skills covered span from the simplicity of posture and fit in your kayak to edged turns and advanced maneuvering skills.
