On the Mendocino Coast, we call this Rock Gardening 101.  After you have learned the basics on flat water, learn to have fun -  kayaking in moving water. 

Why: We have a beautiful and fun rocky coastline to explore by kayak.

Who: Kayakers who want to learn to paddle in moving water including rock gardens.

Prerequisites:  Essential Kayak Skills I, Essential Rescue & Recovery I or equivalent.

What: 3 hour session of coastal paddling with guided instruction.

Paddlers will learn and apply concepts and skills involved in:

Kayak control and maneuvering

Reading moving water

Recognizing hazards

Recovery Techniques

Exploring coastal rock formations including surge channels and pour-overs and sea caves
