“When you know nature as part of yourself,

 You will act in harmony.

When you feel yourself part of nature,

                        You will live in harmony”

                                    -Tao 13

It was late October; I was on a solo journey along the shores of Santa Catalina Island.  It had been a long day, and I needed a break.  The beaches and rocky shoreline were being pummeled by strong 4’ shorebreak.  After a long assessment of where to land, (knowing I must not mess up) I timed the sets, prepared my kayak and went for it.  I made it!  After pulling up my kayak far from the waters edge, I sat and had a cup of tea.  Watching the wildlife around me play about was a great site as I rested.  After a good rest I timed my departure with the sets and headed out to visit with my shadow Mr. Harbor Seal.

With many hours of practice in the surf zone a paddler can gain access to many parts of the coastline unattainable by most.

I have put my knowledge and those I have learned from into a program designed for an efficient beach launch and landing.
