Rock garden paddling is a form of whitewater kayaking.  Have you sat looking at a rock strewn coastline?  Could you imagine kayaking amongst the breaking waves, rocks and sea caves?  Giving the proper training and the guidance of an experienced kayak leader, you could be involved with the immense funness!  People paddle down a river full of rocks, trees, and steep gradients.  Come out and try it on the sea.

 

 

Who:  Persons that have a working understanding of bracing, basic maneuvering, self rescue and need for excitement and beauty.

 

What:  Paddling around rock formations and exploring the coastline. Participants may have the opportunity to go in around and over these formations.  What a hoot!!!!!

 

When:  10:00am – 4:00pm, July 21, 2007

Equipment list:

Suitable kayak:  open or closed deck kayaks

PFD:  fit snug with, small knife, whistle and power snack (snickers

Helmet:  multiple impact helmet. 

Paddle

Spray deck for decked kayaks and thigh straps for sit on tops

Clothing for immersion: all participants must be dressed appropriately for the water temperatures.  June: 60’ water, July 65’, august 65-70’

Retainers for prescription glasses and/or sunglasses

Sunscreen:  hat (can go under helmet), sunglasses, long sleeves, sun-block, gloves

Foot gear:  please have secure foot gear.  A back strap is necessary to keep shoes/sandals on during a swim.

Water min. 1 liter, in/on kayak, and it must be secured somehow
